When can I apply?

2019-2020 Fall/Winter term undergraduate residence applications are available starting February 4, 2019. Please visit the Current Students - Glendon website to apply. We strongly encourage you to apply by February 28, 2019 to improve your chance of receiving an offer and/or getting your room/suite preferences.

Is there a deadline for applications?

No, we will continue to accept applications throughout the summer but you will only be offered if a space is available.

Do I have to pay a fee with my application?

Yes, a $50 non-refundable fee is due upon submitting an application and can be paid online by Visa, MasterCard, American Express or Visa Debit.

What are the requirements to be eligible for Undergraduate Residences?

You are eligible to apply for residence as long as:

  1. You are enrolled in a full-time undergraduate degree program (18 credits over F/W terms or 9 credits per term), AND
  2. You have no significant behavioral infractions reported while living in or visiting the York residences,  AND
  3. You have no outstanding debt on your student account from previous academic terms.

When will I get a room offer?

Specific room assignments and offers will be sent out to students via email starting mid to late March and will continue throughout the summer as long as there is space available. The earlier you apply, the earlier you will receive an offer.

Can I apply for difference residences?

Yes, you will have the opportunity to select up to two building preferences in the same Housing application.

Will I get to choose a building/room preference?

Yes, you can indicate a specific building/room preference on your application. The earlier you apply, the better your chances are of receiving your building/room preference, pending availability.

Can I have a single room?

You can indicate single room as preference in the application although typically, upper-year students are offered a single room first. However, there is also an affordable alternative option for you if you know someone you would be happy to share a room with. You can request to share a double room with a friend as long as you are of the same gender and you request each other as roommates.

Will I have to pay a deposit for residence if given an offer?

Yes, you are required to pay a $300 non-refundable residence room deposit online using a credit or visa debit card upon acceptance of your residence room offer. Your deposit is not an additional charge and will be credited back to your student account after you move in. Instructions on how to pay your deposit online will be included with your room offer.

Can I apply if I have never lived in residence?

Yes, you can apply for residence as long as you meet the eligibility criteria mentioned above.

Can I decline a room offer and still be considered for another residence?

Upon initial offer, Housing and Conference Services will attempt to give you a space in the residences of your choice. However upon declining this and choosing to be considered for another residence, you will lose your placement and will be placed at the bottom of the list.

Is smoking permitted in residence?

No, all residences are smoke-free. Smoking is also strictly prohibited within 9 metres of the building entrance.

Is cannabis permitted in residence?

Rules and policies on cannabis smoking, possession and cultivation are available in Residence Community Standards.

Is there a process in place to address smoking and cannabis concerns?

Residents are encouraged to contact Residence Life on all smoking and cannabis concerns they may have. Issues will be addressed with responsible residents in accordance to policies set in the Residence Occupancy Agreement and Residence Life Handbook.
